Remember that your grief is a journey

Remember that your grief is a journey

It has a beginning… this is often the real heavy hard stuff (though it isn’t like that for everyone)…

It has a middle…which is where you DO YOUR WORK. Travel through it.  Spending time. Unpicking the threads. Learning what there is to learn.  Getting to know yourself better. Growing and changing (as painful a process as this can be). Until…

The end.  Where  the experience has served it’s purpose and completed it’s course.  Where you are at the end of it.  And the grief is finished.

Most don’t realise it’s a journey with a possible end.  They stop along the track and set up camp, truly believing there is no other option.  That everything else they experience in life will happen on this one track now.  That their grief is their constant companion.

This is not true.

Grief is a journey.  There is a destination.  And once you reach it you have finished this grief journey and will instead be in a place of G.R.I.E.F. – gratitude, real connection, inspiration, empowerment, and freedom from this pain.

But REMEMBER that it IS a journey.  A journey you need to walk. You need to do the work to get there. And at times it will be very hard.  And at times you’ll wonder, like we do on any tough journey, if you can really get there.  And maybe you’ll want to quit. And maybe you too will start to think that actually it isn’t a journey and you should just stop where you are because it can’t get better anyway.

Don’t.

Keep going.  Keep searching. Keep asking the right questions. And know that you are on your way to healing, as long as you hold that intention and keep moving in that direction.
